On the 14th of July 1965 a married couple, a German and a woman from Valladolid, started a dream, which had begun years before when they bought a Finca in the coastal town of Conil de la Frontera, while they were living in Madrid. 

They decided to change city and start a very personal project, building homes for foreign clients to enjoy their holidays as in their own home, the Cortijo Fontanilla, pioneers in betting on foreign tourism in the area, getting the Germans to fall in love with it, so they keep repeating after more than fifty years with us, in addition to publicize our wonderful coast of Cadiz. 

In the years of work that we have been doing, we have opted to maintain the philosophy of our founders and continue with the commitment to the green, planting trees and different plants that improve the environment which today makes us have a small green ecosystem in the interior, where we like to wake up with the singing of the birds, being the first in the commitment to the green nature next to the beach, with hundreds of different varieties and diverse origin prioritizing those of the area.


Today, we are a small hotel complex situated three hundred metres from the Fontanilla Beach and one thousand metres from the centre of the village, Plaza de España, where we continue to strive to maintain this "Oasis of Peace" or "Vergel of Tranquillity", as we are honoured to be described by our own clients who come back year after year, which gives us the strength to continue working and improving.


Juan Cristóbal von Knobloch, who has seen the path of success of Cortijo Fontanilla since he was a child, tells us that "Today I have the satisfaction of continuing the beautiful legacy that my parents left me, and that I have instilled in my children so that they will fight for it in the same way. I am committed to maintaining the same philosophy adapted to the constant changes in life, and in tourism in particular.

In recent months we have undertaken a process of updating our brand and corporate image, rejuvenating and innovating our logo, as well as improving our corporate website, relying on the best technology and suppliers in the market to offer a unique experience, such as a price comparator, where we guarantee the customer that we offer the best price in the market, or a special rate that is insured against any mishap that arises with the current pandemic.


We have also included unique services in the Suite such as beer or wine tastings in our province of Cadiz, diving baptisms in the pool or massages to make the experience even more special or breakfast services as a novelty that will soon be available.
